Today’s direct restorative materials have vastly improved physical properties and uses that can significantly improve the restorations we place today. They also enable us to perform more minimally invasive procedures since following the “rules” set up by G.V. Black for cavity preparation are not readily needed when using today’s high tech direct placement materials. However, we must still fully understand the benefits and drawbacks of even these superior materials: where they are called for, what they can do to benefit the restorative process and where they can fail. Upon completion of this CE webinar, the student will have: 1. Reviewed the evolution of direct placement restorative materials. 2. Examined the makeup of these materials. 3. Looked at what factors that can make these materials succeed or fail. 4. Understood solutions to many common problems associated with their use.
