This webinar will evaluate the role of the dental needle from a patient’s perspective and provide empirical evidence of how impactful the needle is to the patient experience. Advances in technology and techniques of needle design will be discussed in a format that relates to the chronological application of local anesthetic delivery. With the ideal being the delivery of the least painful injection possible, the characteristics of needle design and how to appropriately select a needle for practice is discussed. Additionally, complications and adverse events that occur in the dental office due to the dental hypodermic needle will be thoroughly presented. Upon completion of this CE Activity, the student will be able to: understand how the patient views the dental needle; understand the risks, compications and adverse events that may come about in the clinical setting when using hypodermic needles; be aware of recent advances in hypodermic needle technology and techniques/
